Pygothrips breviceps Okajima, 1990: 91. [nec Pygothrips breviceps Hood, 1934]
Pygothrips brevis Okajima, 2006: 147. Replacement name.

Described from Izu Islands, Japan on dead branches. Also collected from Ryukyu Islands.
