Nomenclatural details

Heliothrips venustulus Priesner, 1923: 89.

Astrothrips angulatus Hood, 1925: 50. Synonymised by Wilson, 1975.

Biology and Distribution

Described from Grenada on cacao leaves (A. angulatus) and Paramaribo, Suriname (H. venustulus). Paratypes from Trinidad on Chloropora tinctoria. Recorded from Florida USA, widely around the Caribbean, also Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Australia and Fiji (Mound & Marullo, 1996: 79).
