Nomenclatural details

Liothrips brevitubus Karny, 1912: 156.

Liothrips malloti Moulton, 1928: 308.

Liothrips malloti var. flavicornis Moulton, 1928: 310.

Rhynchothrips brevitubus Moulton, 1929: 19. Homonym.

Liothrips brevitubus Kono, 1964: 4. Homonym.

Biology and Distribution

Described from Java, Indonesia (L. brevitubus Karny),and the synonyms (L. malloti) and (var. flavicornis) from Taiwan.

The two homonyms presumably represent two further species: R. brevitubus Moulton from Mexico, Mazatlan, and L. brevitubus Kono from USA, California.
