Anactinothrips Bagnall, 1909: 329. Type species Anactinothrips meinerti Bagnall, 1909.

Ophidothrips Schmutz, 1909: 273. Type species Ophidothrips handlirschii Schmutz, by monotypy. Synonymised by Moulton, 1933.

Lophothrips Karny, 1911: 503. Type species Lophothrips antennatus Karny, by monotypy. Synonymised by Moulton, 1933.

Biology and Distribution

The identity of some of the 15 species in this Neotropical genus needs confirmation based on suitable series to investigate structural variation. Of the described species, one is known only from an inadequate description (handlirschii), four from single specimens (cristatus, distinguendus, fuscus, longisetis), three each from two specimens (antennatus, graphidura, meinerti), one from three (nigricornis), one from five (marginipennis), and one from seven (brachyura).
