Subfamily information

The Panchaetothripinae is interpreted here in the traditional sense of Heliothripinae Karny, for a group of usually dark brown, strongly reticulate, leaf-feeding Thripidae (Wilson, 1975). In contrast, Bhatti (2006) recognised the following families for this group:
